Conveniently located to serve the areas of New Bern, NC

CoolSculpting, Dr. Zannis, New Bern, NC

PHYSIQ is a non-invasive device designed to tone muscle and reduce fat tissue thickness in any area of the body you would like to sculpt. With just 30-minute sessions, PHYSIQ can eliminate stubborn pockets of fat by utilizing deep heating and electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) technology. This allows patients to attain slimmer contours without the need for anesthesia, incisions, or recovery downtime. With less fat in the treatment area, it can also minimize the appearance of cellulite. The device is equipped with four applicators, allowing clinicians to treat two areas of the body simultaneously. Over 5 sessions, patients will reap the full benefits of this comfortable treatment and feel increased confidence in their healthier, more athletic appearance.

To learn more about this revolutionary technology, we invite you to schedule a consultation with a licensed provider at Zannis Plastic Surgery, led by experienced, board-certified surgeon, Dr. John Zannis. As a nationally recognized physician, Dr. Zannis only incorporates the safest and most advanced devices at his facility.

How Does PHYSIQ Work?

Attaining your vision of an aesthetically pleasing body is often not easy. With sedentary lifestyles, children, hormonal fluctuations, and the aging process, the body experiences many changes that can leave you feeling displeased with unwanted fat buildup. Even with targeted exercise and dieting regimes, a coveted body type can be difficult to sustain over time. With PHYSIQ, you can invoke your body’s natural fat-burning and muscle-toning mechanisms. When coming in contact with the skin, the super luminescent diode matrix (SDM) modality works to apply temperatures of around 109 degrees Fahrenheit to the subcutaneous fat, enough thermal energy to induce delayed lipolysis (fat cell death). (1) In response to this, the body will slowly metabolize the fat cells and remove them over time via the lymphatic system. PHYSIQ can also use electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) to create contractions in the targeted underlying muscle, building lean mass in the same way that exercise can. This specialized combined energy is referred to as sequential thermal & electrical pulse (STEP) technology- the first of its kind in the world of non-invasive body sculpting. Many PHYSIQ treatments include both EMS and SDM energies for a more comprehensive transformation, but clinicians can also isolate and apply only one of these energies for a more customized approach.

The Benefits of PHYSIQ

Many patients choose PHYSIQ for not only its aesthetic benefits but also its versatility which appeals to a wide range of individuals with varying body goals.

  • Technicians can use the applicators on the abdomen, buttocks, flanks, arms, or thighs.
  • The device can slim down 2 treatment areas at once within a 30-minute session. We can treat a maximum of 3 areas within one day.
  • It can provide a subtle, youthful, natural-looking lift to the buttocks without compromising tissue volume.
  • Patients can choose this treatment to maintain muscular strength in injured areas.
  • Aside from slight twitches due to the EMS and waves of warmth from the SDM energy, you will not feel any other sensations, discomfort, or pain.
  • PHYSIQ can complement muscle-toning results at the gym, enhancing the effectiveness of each workout.
  • The results can inspire patients to feel more motivated to pursue a healthier lifestyle.

Candidates

Almost anyone can benefit from the body-sculpting, debulking effects of PHYSIQ, but you will see the most significant improvements if you are within 30 lbs of your ideal body weight. The procedure is not appropriate if you have had recent surgery in the area (within 6 months) or have experienced nerve damage. If you have a pacemaker or cardioverter defibrillator, the EMS aspect of the device should be used with caution. (2) Please speak to Dr. Zannis if you are concerned with this part of the procedure, and your technician may be able to adjust the settings to promote the safest, most effective outcome.

Personal Consultation

During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to speak with your PHYSIQ technician to learn more about the device and how its energies operate within the body. They will assess the areas of concern, and give you an idea of the results you can expect at the end of your treatment series. If they feel you are more well-suited for a more comprehensive intervention, like liposuction, they will be happy to outline the basics of the procedure and/or redirect you to Dr. Zannis for more information. PHYSIQ is entirely non-invasive, so the preparation and recovery processes are straightforward.

Preparation

Within a day of your treatment session, you should shave the area to ensure that the applicators’ energy can properly penetrate the deeper tissues. Beginning the day before and the day of, you should increase your water consumption. Doing so will help your body remove any unnecessary toxins and help speed up the fat elimination and metabolization process.

PHYSIQ Treatment Steps

If you choose to undergo a combined procedure (with SDM and EMS modalities), your technician will place the applicator upon the treatment area and begin with the administration of controlled thermal energy with SDM. The sapphire feature of the SDM technology cools the skin surface while the gentle heating takes place subdermally. After heating the fat layer to about 109 degrees Fahrenheit, your provider will switch to EMS to begin the muscle contraction part of the procedure. They will begin a personalized sequence of cycling between these two technologies, ensuring that you benefit fully from both. You will have a control button that will allow you to adjust energy modulation settings for full comfort without compromising the effectiveness of the PHYSIQ session.

Aftercare and Results

After the session, you may feel some mild discomfort similar to post-workout soreness. You will also have some lingering sensations of warmth for a few hours. You should aim to keep your body relaxed and avoid strenuous exercise for at least 2 days afterward. You should also massage the area with the prescribed PHYSIQ body lotion. With just one bottle of PHYSIQ lotion, you should apply and continue to massage the treated area twice daily until your next scheduled session.

To obtain an optimal slimming outcome, your technician will likely recommend 5 sessions spaced 1 or 2 weeks apart. After finishing your series, you may want to consider undergoing EMS-only treatments to maintain the results. Everyone’s body reacts differently to the device due to differing metabolisms, so you and your provider will discuss the specifics of your goals and the modalities of PHYSIQ you would like to use.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Liposuction

Liposuction only involves one or two incisions a fraction of an inch to permanently remove stubborn fat deposits. With the latest advancements in the field of minimally invasive procedures, Dr. Zannis can remove fat from almost any part of the body. He has experience implementing techniques such as SAFELipo, laser-assisted liposuction, and standard tumescent liposuction. He can help you choose the most appropriate method, taking into account your body composition, treatment area/s, and your desired goals. Since the incisions are so insignificant, they often do not require suturing. While it is not considered non-invasive like PHYSIQ, liposuction procedures only require local anesthesia and sedation, so patients can avoid the risks and side effects associated with general anesthesia.

Kybella

Kybella is an injectable designed to safely dissolve fat cells under the chin, also called the submental region. It utilizes the power of deoxycholic acid, an enzyme molecule that signals fat cell death and removal through the lymphatic system. Without surgery, patients can eliminate the look of a “double chin”, a feature that often causes self-consciousness. The entire procedure only takes about 15 to 20 minutes and can provide permanent improvements to your facial profile, given that you do not gain weight.
