The Clear + Brilliant Difference

Clear + Brilliant is a skin resurfacing laser whose intensity lies somewhere between microdermabrasion and Fraxel resurfacing. It is a fractional laser of the non-ablative kind that penetrates at a slightly lighter depth. A laser beam comes out that resembles little pixel dots and affects a small percentage of the targeted skin.

Instead of damaging all the cells in a particular area, it destroys only a fraction of them and leaves behind healthy cells that initiate a robust and effective healing response. The regenerative action that is provided by the healthy tissue ends up rejuvenating the skin of the patient. You have two treatment options:

  • Original – This is meant to reduce the pore size and all the fine lines, apart from improving the texture, tone, and elasticity of the skin.
  • Permea – Apart from correcting pigmentation discolorations like sunspots and melasma, this also helps with the pore size and fine lines. This is slightly shallower than the former making it the better choice for addressing uneven pigmentation. Permea also enhances the permeability of the skin, thereby making topical skin care products more effective.

Who Is it Meant for?

Clear + Brilliant is a great treatment option for people in their 20s and 30s who are looking for a more advanced and targeted treatment than what is available with the extant skincare regimens, but at the same time do not want an aggressive resurfacing procedure. It is perfect for preventing and reversing early symptoms of aging and correcting sun damage.

While it is a great treatment option for those who are looking for effective preventative skincare, it is also an excellent option for people who are looking to maintain the results of a more transformative procedure like Fraxel. It can also help people with uneven skin tones.

Contraindications

Some medications and medical conditions increase the risk of side effects. So, you should always talk to a trusted and qualified physician about your medial history. Patients are discouraged from using Accutane before they undergo a laser resurfacing treatment.

If you have abnormal scarring, like keloids that tend to grow beyond the injured area, you need to discuss it with your doctor. Patients who suffer from vitiligo and psoriasis will be analyzed closely before they are approved for the treatment.

How Long Does the Treatment Take and How Does it Feel?

The treatment will last for about half an hour. You will experience mild discomfort but the surgeon will apply a topical anesthetic before proceeding and you won’t need any pain medication after the treatment.

Both you and the doctor will be wearing protective eyewear during the procedure. After the numbing cream is applied, the doctor will cleanse your skin and slowly glide the handheld device over it. You will experience a mild sizzling sensation on your skin during the treatment.

Once the procedure is complete, the doctor will apply a cooling mask to mitigate the sensation of residual heat. You will be pink for about 5 hours after the treatment, but it will subside.
